Chi Neng Qigong

This form is also known worldwide as Zhineng Qigong. It is a Chinese movement practice that is highly effective for strengthening body and mind. The simple exercises stimulate the flow of Qi (life energy) and make your body relaxed, flexible and strong. You learn to stay in the present moment and focus (mindfulness). It improves your concentration, your fitness, your resistance and activates your self-healing ability.

The difference with yoga is that you engage your mind in your exercise. That means you follow the movement of your body with your attention inward and outward beyond the boundaries of your body into nature and the universe. The Level 1 exercises are specifically designed for this exchange of Qi from your body with that from nature. You make a connection with nature, according to the principle: Chi follows attention.

At Level 2, you then go deeper with your attention into the organs and into the bones/muscles/joints. The movement creates space in the body and attention allows the energy to go deeper inward. Within a short time you will notice improvements in yourself.

The effect of Chi Neng Qigong

The effect of Chi Neng Qigong has consequences for body and mind: Through practice, one opens, among other things, the meridians (energy pathways), allowing Qi to flow freely again.

This gives, among other things, the following effect:

  • Blockages are cleared
  • Lymph flow is activated and waste products are removed
  • The immune system is strengthened
  • Fitness improves, your body becomes flexible and stronger
  • Organ functions improve
  • Inner peace develops, emotional strength increases
  • Concentration improves
  • Stress diminishes or even disappears completely
  • Body and mind come into balance

The name Chi Neng Qigong is protected and stands for the quality of the instructors and the training that pursues the pure form as conceived by Dr. Pang Ming.

Level 1 exercises, brief explanation

  • Warming up: The warm-up ensures that the meridians are opened, the organs warmed, the knees loosened and the spine released.
  • La Qi: Exchange of Qi (life energy) from your body with the Qi of nature
  • Sway La Qi: The Sway La Qi is an exercise to reach relaxation through movement and visualization.
  • Lift Qi Up: The foundation of Chi Neng Qigong. A very simple exercise with great effect on the energy system, reducing and even eliminating complaints.
  • Three Centres Merge: A standing meditative exercise that strengthens body and mind. The lower back, middle and pelvic region become more flexible and the basic energy supply increases.
  • Wall squats: Opens the entire spine, the SI joint, and therefore helps very well with back complaints. Mingmen (the lower back) is called the 'gate of life' of the body in China. That is no accident. Many exercises within Chi Neng aim to open this area because when it is open, energy and grounding will increase significantly. The spine is the most important conductor of Qi (life energy). When it is open, energy will increase as well as blood circulation.
